Volleyball Recap: Brookside Cardinals vs. Wellington Dukes
After flying high against Oberlin last Thursday, Brookside came back down to earth. The Cardinals took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wellington Dukes on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Dukes: they've now lost five in a row.
The final score came out to 25-23, 7-25, 25-20, 25-14.
Bella Weiss paced Brookside's offense, picking up 11 kills. Weiss got some help from Sydney Adkins and her 26 assists. Amira Fraam controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Wellington found their leader in sophomore Alexandria Mills, who had 20 digs and five aces. Mills has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 13 times she's played. Peyton Teague also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Brookside now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Wellington, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Brookside is set to face off against their familiar foe Black River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Wellington will take on rival Clearview at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
