Basketball Recap: Ballston Spa Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Ballston Spa waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Cortland Purple Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 43-28.

Ballston Spa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mallory Sprissler led the charge by putting up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Sprissler continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Kramer, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Ballston Spa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Ballston Spa's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Cortland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ballston Spa will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Shaker at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for Cortland, they will face off against Christian Brothers Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Christian Brothers Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Cortland surely won't give up without a fight.
