Preview: Del Valle Conquistadores vs. Lubbock-Cooper Pirates

After nine games on the road, Del Valle is heading back home. They will take on the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Del Valle struggled with offensive rebounds on Monday (Mayfield had 700% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Del Valle fell 80-73 to Mayfield.

Despite the defeat, Del Valle had strong showings from Byan Mei, who scored 27 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals, and Ryu Nunez, who scored 24 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Nunez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Nunez, who scored 8 points.

Meanwhile, Lubbock-Cooper beat Seminole 55-46 on Tuesday. The victory was just what Lubbock-Cooper needed coming off of a 91-64 defeat in their prior match.

Del Valle's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Lubbock-Cooper, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Del Valle came up short against Lubbock-Cooper in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 79-69. Will Del Valle have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
