Volleyball Recap: Gateway Charter Takes a Loss

After flying high against East Lee County last Wednesday, Gateway Charter came back down to earth. The Griffins fell just short of the Cape Coral Seahawks by a score of 3-2 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 two weeks ago.

Gateway Charter took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-5.

Gateway Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Cape Coral, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-10.

Coming up, Gateway Charter will face off against North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cape Coral, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Island Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
