Preview: Osceola/High Plains vs. Burwell
Burwell will take on Osceola/High Plains in each of the teams' fifth playoff game on Monday. Averaging 49.25 points per contest, the Burwell squad has been an offensive juggernaut in the playoffs, so hopefully Osceola/High Plains' defense is prepared for a test.
Last Monday, Burwell faced Dundy County-Stratton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Longhorns enjoyed a cozy 28-10 victory over Dundy County-Stratton. The score was all tied up at the break 8-8, but the Longhorns were the better team in the second half.
Meanwhile, Osceola/High Plains and Cross County -- ranked 44th and 93rd in the MaxPreps national rankings, respectively -- squared off in a high-profile matchup. Osceola/High Plains snuck past Cross County with a 34-30 win. Keaton Van housen had a dynamite game for Osceola/High Plains; he rushed for 248 yards and three TDs on 31 carries. If you haven't heard Van housen's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in Osceola/High Plains' past ten games.
