Basketball Recap: DMLK Comes Up Short

DMLK played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the DSST: Conservatory Green Hornets, falling 74-46. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Hornets are ranked 120th).

Despite the loss, DMLK still got an impressive performance from Jessie Matthews, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Deion Turner, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points.

DSST: Conservatory Green's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenny Van, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points and three steals. Van continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Davon Allen, who went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points.

DMLK now has a losing record at 4-5. As for DSST: Conservatory Green, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

DMLK wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-33 loss against DSST: Green Valley Ranch on the 17th. As for DSST: Conservatory Green, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-59 win against DSST: College View on the 17th.
