Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Jennings

Jennings won the last time they faced Parkway South and things went their way on Thursday too. The Jennings Warriors came out on top against the Parkway South Patriots by a score of 72-62. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Patriots are ranked 86th).

Despite the loss, Parkway South still got an impressive performance from Noah Barnes, who went 11-for-22 to rack up 36 points. Barnes' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Jacob Sidwell was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks.

Jennings is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-17 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points over those games. As for Parkway South, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jennings will take on Hazelwood Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Parkway South, they will challenge Kirkwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
