Softball Recap: Pine Prairie Beats Tioga for Their Seventh Straight Win

Pine Prairie had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Tioga Indians. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 5-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kynnedi Ware made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs.

In other batting news, Camron Lafleur was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted over her last nine matchups. Josie Vidrine also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Pine Prairie pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tioga, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Prairie will take on David Thibodaux at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Tioga, they will face off against Monterey at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
