Baseball Recap: Model Takes a Loss

Model extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-20. They lost 17-5 to the Rowan County Vikings. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly 12 runs.

As for Rowan County, they pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

For Rowan County's part, Eli Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Miller a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Rowan County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Grant Rose was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and one double. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Havens, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Model will host Bluegrass United at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rowan County, they will face off against Blazer at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
