Football Recap: Denver West's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Denver West dropped to 5-3 on Thursday, ending the team's seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. The matchup between the Cowboys and the Denver North Vikings didn't end well, with the Cowboys falling 24-6. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, the Cowboys couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Denver North, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 1.2 points on average over those games.

A big part of Denver North's win came down to the chemistry between Lea Gentry and her top target Felicity Tomberg. Gentry threw for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Tomberg picked up 56 receiving yards and two scores. The dominant performance also gave Gentry a new career-high in passer rating (125).

The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cowboys 13.2, the Thunderbolts 9.9) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Denver North will challenge rival Kennedy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
