Recap: Meeker Cowboys vs. Aspen Skiers
The Meeker Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 33 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Aspen 61-20 at home. With that victory, Meeker brought their scoring average up to 51.5 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Meeker to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ellie Hossack, who scored 17 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Hossack scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Sullivan, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Aspen lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ambler Henderson. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Meeker's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Aspen, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meeker will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Roaring Fork at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024. Hopefully Roaring Fork focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday. Aspen will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grand Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
