Recap: Clayton Clippers vs. Gloucester Catholic Rams
The Clayton Clippers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 43-12 loss at the hands of Gloucester Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clayton has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Clayton still got an impressive performance from Rainelle Blocker, who scored five points along with 14 rebounds and three blocks. Blocker scored a full 41.7% of Clayton's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Clayton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Clayton has fallen quite a ways from their 18-9 record last season and are now at 2-5. As for Gloucester Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Clayton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against LEAP Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 5th. LEAP Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Gloucester Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Pitman at 5:30 p.m. Pitman will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Gloucester Catholic is ranked 40th).
