The Stockbridge Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Hall Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Stockbridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully North Hall likes a good challenge.
Stockbridge can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 63-21 win over McDonough. Given Stockbridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 51st, while McDonough is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stockbridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden "duke" Scott, who rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Scott is absolutely dominating the rushing touchdown category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Jordyn Mack was another key contributor, rushing for 152 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Stockbridge's defense and their seven sacks. In that department, Jared Anthony was the leader with three sacks.
Meanwhile, North Hall pushed their score all the way to 39 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of East Forsyth by a score of 42-39.
The losing side was boosted by Tanner Marsh, who rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Marsh was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Ryals Puryear, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Stockbridge's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for North Hall, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's game: Stockbridge has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 303.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Hall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 197.8 per game. It's looking like Saturday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
