Preview: Bishop Moore Hornets vs. Lake Highland Prep Highlanders
Bishop Moore is 1-9 against Lake Highland Prep since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bishop Moore Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bishop Moore had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 64-27 victory over the Panthers on the road. Given Bishop Moore's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Mulberry is ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lake Highland Prep gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They breezed by McKeel Academy at home to the tune of 84-21. Winning may never get old, but Lake Highland Prep sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
It was another big night for Ari Woodard, who scored 24 points along with seven assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Blue, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
The victory got Bishop Moore back to even at 12-12. As for Lake Highland Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
Bishop Moore was dealt a bruising 89-53 loss at the hands of Lake Highland Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Bishop Moore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
