Softball Game Preview: Shanley Deacons vs. Valley City Hi-Liners

The Shanley Deacons will challenge the Valley City Hi-Liners at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Friday, Shanley made easy work of Devils Lake and carried off a 9-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Deacons.

Meanwhile, Valley City never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against Fargo South as they made off with a 13-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Hi-Liners in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Bailey Leroux, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Hartsell, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Valley City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fargo South only posted an OBP of .364.

Shanley's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Valley City, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
