Baseball Recap: Bellingham Blackhawks vs. Medway Mustangs
Bellingham was the 6-0 winner over Medway when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blackhawks fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 10-9 on Wednesday. Blackhawks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Mustangs since on Wednesday.
Colin Sherman was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Sherman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Nicholas Fantini was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Eric Johnston, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Bellingham's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Medway, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellingham is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Douglas at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Medway, they will venture away from home to take on Canton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
