Basketball Recap: Gabe Meyer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Genesis Prep Academy over Timberlake

It was a proper cat-fight when Genesis Prep Academy took on Timberlake on Thursday. The Genesis Prep Academy Jaguars fell 91-83 to the Timberlake Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (73), the Jaguars still had to take the loss.

Genesis Prep Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabe Meyer, who posted 18 points. Spencer Farrell was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Tyler Engelson was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 15 from beyond the arc en route to 50 points and four steals for Timberlake. That's the most steals Engelson has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maximilian Simpson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards.

Genesis Prep Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Timberlake, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6.

Genesis Prep Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-52 victory against Wallace on the 24th. As for Timberlake, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakeside at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
