Softball Recap: Hondo Comes Up Short

Hondo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 12-5 to the Cotulla Cowboys. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cowboys this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in March.

Xevi Hernandez led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kristyn Ybarra, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Hondo now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Cotulla, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Hondo will take on Dilley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Cotulla, they will square off against Lytle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
