Baseball Recap: South Hadley Gets the Win

After losing to Holyoke the last time they met, South Hadley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tigers walked away with a 5-2 win over the Knights on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Griffin Soderbaum made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Noah Carillon was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for South Hadley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Gavin Carpenter was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

South Hadley now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Holyoke, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Coming up, South Hadley will head out to challenge Mount Everett Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holyoke, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Ludlow at 3:30 p.m.
