Baseball Recap: Mount Union Wins Going Away Against Northern Bedford County

Mount Union won the last time they faced Northern Bedford County and things went their way on Tuesday too. Mount Union blew past Northern Bedford County 9-2.

Cody McClain was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Julian Weirich was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Levi Hunsinger was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Mount Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern Bedford County only posted a batting average of .250.

Mount Union now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Northern Bedford County, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Union will head out to take on Juniata Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northern Bedford County, they will venture away from home to face off against Meyersdale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
