Soccer Game Preview: American Heritage vs. Benjamin

The American Heritage Stallions will venture away from home to take on the Benjamin Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. American Heritage is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

American Heritage's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Forest Hill by a score of 2-0. Given the Stallions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Falcons are ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Montgomery Byers was the driving force of American Heritage's attack as he scored both of American Heritage's goals, bringing his season total up to four goals.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Benjamin was forced to settle for a draw. They and Olympic Heights finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Wednesday. The outcome might've been different if Desmon Flemming hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

American Heritage's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matchups. Benjamin's draw makes their record 8-1-1 this season.

American Heritage beat Benjamin 3-1 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for American Heritage since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
