Recap: Lakeland Regional Lancers vs. Wayne Valley Indians
The Lakeland Regional Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 80-34 defeat at the hands of Wayne Valley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakeland Regional has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Lakeland Regional had strong showings from Noah Pagan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Justin Meakem, who scored six points. Pagan scored a full 35.3% of Lakeland Regional's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Wayne Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Apicella, who scored 23 points along with five assists. The match was Apicella's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Flower, who scored 19 points along with five assists.
Lakeland Regional's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Wayne Valley, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland Regional will take on West Milford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wayne Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Fair Lawn at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Fair Lawn is ranked 121st, while Wayne Valley is ranked 112th).
