Baseball Recap: Providence Day Find Success

Providence Day won the last time they faced Charlotte Country Day School and things went their way on Friday too. The Chargers came out on top against the Buccaneers by a score of 8-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Matthew Emery looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Providence Day is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cullen Ward and George Couchenour did most of the damage at the plate: Ward went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Couchenour went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits Ward has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Austin Ward, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Providence Day's record is now 7-10. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Providence Day wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 win against Caldwell Academy on the 14th. As for Charlotte Country Day School, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-5 loss against Christ the King on the 14th.
