Basketball Recap: Mount Dora Snaps 16-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Mount Dora needed a changed in momentum after dropping eight straight games and they got it from Daqavious Taylor. The Mount Dora Hurricanes managed a 66-62 win over the East Ridge Knights on Thursday thanks in part to Taylor, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points.

Despite the loss, East Ridge had strong showings from Joshua Joehill, who went 14 of 30 en route to 35 points, and Jordan Corman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards. Those 35 points gave Joehill a new career-high.

Mount Dora's victory ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-13. As for East Ridge, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13.

Mount Dora wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 58-46 loss against Tavares on the 17th. As for East Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 82-59 defeat against South Lake on the 17th.
