Baseball Recap: West Point Wins Going Away Against Camelback

While West Point put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Camelback. West Point was the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over Camelback. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won three games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Hunter Gallinger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gallinger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Jacob Gonzalez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Kenyer Martinez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

West Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Camelback only posted a batting average of .067.

The victory made it two in a row for West Point and bumps their season record up to 3-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11.5 hits in those games compared to only 5.33 in the others. As for Camelback, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

West Point didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-7 draw against Green Mountain on the 20th. As for Camelback, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-2 defeat against Valley Vista on the 20th.
