Baseball Recap: River Ridge Takes Down Sebring in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, River Ridge rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Sebring Blue Streaks. The Royal Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Cameron Kessell made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Hagen Conner was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Jacob Yeager was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

River Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

River Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Sebring, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: River Ridge beat the Blue Streaks by a score of 3-1 later that day.
