Basketball Game Preview: South Bronx Prep Cougars vs. Truman Mustangs

South Bronx Prep is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Truman is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The South Bronx Prep Cougars will welcome the Truman Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

South Bronx Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 105-36 win over Young Women's Leadership. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Young Women's Leadership are ranked 178th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Truman against Longwood Prep Academy on Wednesday as the team secured a 59-31 victory.

Truman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points over those games. As for South Bronx Prep, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.

South Bronx Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Truman in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 66-54. Does South Bronx Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Truman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
