Baseball Game Preview: Upper Sandusky Rams vs. Edison Chargers

The Upper Sandusky Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Edison Chargers at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Upper Sandusky has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Upper Sandusky needed a bit of extra time to put away Wynford. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Royals 8-7. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Justin Heilman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Upper Sandusky let Kaleb Francis and Kasen Gottfried run wild. Francis went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI, while Gottfried went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Francis has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Edison was able to grind out a solid victory over Seneca East on Thursday, taking the game 7-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Upper Sandusky pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Edison, their record is now 10-1.
