Basketball Recap: Greeley West Comes Up Short

Greeley West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Rocky Mountain Lobos and fell 73-14. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Lobos are ranked 27th).

Greeley West got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Paige Rupple and Maria Tapia, who each put up four points.

Rocky Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mia Thomas, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 15 points. Thomas continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenna Wagner, who went 6-for-10 on her way to 13 points and three steals.

Greeley West's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Rocky Mountain, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Greeley West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-30 defeat against Fossil Ridge on the 11th. As for Rocky Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-19 victory against Loveland on the 11th.
