Basketball Recap: Thomas Cahill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Saucon Valley over Catasauqua

Saucon Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 67-46 to the Catasauqua Rough Riders. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rough Riders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Saucon Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Thomas Cahill, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Michael Magnotta, who posted 11 points.

Frankie Pujols was nothing short of spectacular for Catasauqua: he went 9-for-17 on his way to 21 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aalani Nix, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 13 points and five boards.

Saucon Valley now has a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Saucon Valley will head out on the road to face off against Upper Perkiomen at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Catasauqua, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-47 defeat against Northwestern Lehigh on the 13th.
