Recap: Monarch Knights vs. Coral Springs Colts
The Monarch Knights suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 66-40 walloping at the hands of Coral Springs. While losing is never fun, Monarch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Coral Springs is ranked 27th).
Despite the defeat, Monarch had strong showings from Cody Dinnall, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds, and Jerome Blangor, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Monarch's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Coral Springs, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
Monarch won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Coral Springs Charter at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Coral Springs Charter comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Coral Springs, they will square off against Blanche Ely at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
