Baseball Preview: Rolesville Rams vs. Heritage Huskies
The Rolesville Rams will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Heritage Huskies at 7:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Rolesville suffered a rough 8-1 defeat at the hands of Wake Forest. Rolesville has not had much luck with Wake Forest recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Rolesville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Daniel, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Heritage earned a 6-1 victory over Wakefield on Friday.
Heritage also got a great performance from Gage Granata as he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Granata has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Jack Carela Pantaleon was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Jacob Pereira was another key contributor, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Rolesville's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Heritage, they pushed their record up to 12-9 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rolesville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Rolesville came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rolesville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
