Softball Recap: Northwest Vikings vs. Lexington Minutemen

Northwest waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They blew past the Lexington Minutemen 13-0. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.

Libby Loman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Laiken Dorsey was incredible, going 2-for-2 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Becca Dinkelman, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Northwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington only posted an OBP of .000.

Northwest's victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-1. As for Lexington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-26.
