Basketball Recap: Yahri Tyler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Desoto County over Port Charlotte

DeSoto County lost against Port Charlotte back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The DeSoto County Bulldogs fell 61-50 to the Port Charlotte Pirates.

DeSoto County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yahri Tyler, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Janeris Bing, who posted ten points.

DeSoto County's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Port Charlotte, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

DeSoto County and Port Charlotte should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. DeSoto County (ranked 94th) will meet Bradenton Christian (ranked 225th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Port Charlotte (ranked 67th) will meet North Port (ranked 267th) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
