Recap: Fernley Vaqueros vs. Elko Indians

Make it 13 blowout wins for the Fernley Vaqueros this season. Everything went their way against Elko on Friday as Fernley made off with a 59-33 win. The win was familiar territory for Fernley who now have three in a row.

Fernley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaelece Wasson out in front who scored 18 points along with two steals. Wasson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Tollestrup, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.

Despite the loss, Elko still got an impressive performance from Roxanne Keim, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Keim is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ecko Atkins, who scored six points along with two steals.

Fernley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.33 points. As for Elko, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Fernley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Spring Creek at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. Spring Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Fernley is ranked fourth). Elko won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Dayton at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Dayton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday.
