Baseball Game Preview: East Juniata Tigers vs. Susquenita Blackhawks

East Juniata has gone 8-2 against Susquenita recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. East Juniata will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Susquenita at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when East Juniata and Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. East Juniata walked away with a 14-10 victory over Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy.

Owen Messimer was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Meyer Ramsey was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Susquenita, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Greenwood 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Blackhawks in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Susquenita's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Galen Wenrich, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another was Jon Erdossy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Susquenita pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for East Juniata, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

East Juniata came out on top in a nail-biter against Susquenita when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 13-12. Does East Juniata have another victory up their sleeve, or will Susquenita turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
