Preview: Evergreen Cougars vs. Thomas Jefferson Spartans
The Evergreen Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Thomas Jefferson Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Evergreen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday.
Evergreen struggled with assists on Thursday (Denver South had 1300% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Evergreen had to suffer through a rough 54-26 loss at the hands of Denver South.
Rob Beldock was Evergreen's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Drew Yager held things down on the boards with nine rebounds. Yager took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Meanwhile, even though Green Mountain scored an imposing 56 points on Saturday, Thomas Jefferson still came out on top. Thomas Jefferson walked away with a 65-56 win over Green Mountain.
Thomas Jefferson can attribute much of their success to William Perkins, who scored 22 points, and Doren Sacha, who scored 19 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Alleman, who scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds.
Evergreen's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Thomas Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Evergreen couldn't quite finish off Thomas Jefferson when the teams last played back in December of 2022 and fell 45-42. Thankfully for Evergreen, Armon Baker (who scored 17 points along with 5 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
