Football Game Preview: St. Francis Prep Terriers vs. St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings

The St. Francis Prep Terriers are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis Prep has given up an average of 31.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Francis Prep managed to keep up with Chaminade until halftime on Sunday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Terriers lost 45-22 to the Flyers. The loss continues a trend for the Terriers in their meetings with the Flyers: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite their defeat, St. Francis Prep saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sean Ibert, who picked up 146 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 42 yards, was perhaps the best of all. Ibert's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Jack Leary was another key passer, throwing for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine passes.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph-by-the-Sea hadn't done well against Kellenberg Memorial recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Vikings came out on top against the Firebirds by a score of 23-14.

St. Francis Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

St. Francis Prep came up short against St. Joseph-by-the-Sea when the teams last played back in September of 2022, falling 34-28. Can the Terriers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
