Baseball Recap: Vallivue Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

Vallivue took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Skyview, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Hawks 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted against the Hawks since May 3, 2018.

Gage Warrington looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Cooper Crutcher and Aaron Rayo did most of the damage at the plate: Crutcher scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Rayo scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Colt Augustus, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Vallivue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyview only posted a batting average of .214.

Vallivue's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Skyview, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vallivue will challenge Caldwell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.86 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Skyview, they will take on Bishop Kelly at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
