Basketball Game Preview: Pearl Pirates vs. Biloxi Indians

The Pearl Pirates will challenge the Biloxi Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pearl knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Biloxi likes a good challenge.

Pearl is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past St. Martin, posting a 60-28 victory. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Biloxi was able to grind out a solid win over Northwest Rankin on Monday, taking the game 73-64.

Pearl better focus on containing Jakylen Edwards and Kentrell Beasley as the pair were huge in Biloxi's win. Edwards went 8-for-13 to rack up 17 points and seven rebounds, while Beasley almost dropped a triple-double with 12 points, nine boards, and ten assists. Those 17 points gave Edwards a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alan Ayala, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Pearl is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. As for Biloxi, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.

Pearl was dealt a bruising 64-28 loss at the hands of Biloxi in their previous meeting back in January of 2019. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pearl was down 49-12.
