Softball Game Preview: Slaton Tigers vs. Idalou Wildcats

The Slaton Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Idalou Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Slaton will be strutting in after a win while Idalou will be coming in after a loss.

Slaton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Shallowater, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Mustangs on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Monday. Idalou came up short against Littlefield, falling 19-4. Idalou hasn't had much luck with Littlefield recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Slaton has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Idalou, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Slaton took their win against Idalou in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
