Recap: Jackson County Blue Devils vs. Rhea County Golden Eagles
The Jackson County Blue Devils had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They walked away with a 46-37 victory over Rhea County. The victory was all the more spectacular given Jackson County's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Rhea County is ranked 28th).
Jackson County found their leader in underclassman Jalynn Meadows, who scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Williams, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Jackson County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Rhea County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
Jackson County is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Van Buren County at 6:30 p.m. on December 20th. Rhea County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McMinn County at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
