Softball Game Preview: Marion Wildcats vs. Carbondale Terriers

For the second straight game, Marion will face off against Carbondale. The Wildcats will welcome the Terriers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Marion has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Marion's win against Carbondale wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Terriers 4-2.

For Carbondale's part, Lauren Lehman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Carbondale saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anniston Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Marion has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Carbondale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
