Basketball Game Preview: Guilford Vikings vs. Rockford Auburn Knights

The Guilford Vikings will head out to take on the Rockford Auburn Knights at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Guilford is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Last Tuesday, Guilford didn't have too much trouble with Belvidere as they won 66-48. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Bucs are ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Rockford Auburn's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. The game between them and Hononegah didn't end well, with Rockford Auburn falling 60-46.

Guilford pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Rockford Auburn, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Everything went Guilford's way against Rockford Auburn when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Guilford made off with a 50-24 win. Will Guilford repeat their success, or does Rockford Auburn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
