The Highlands Owls are taking a road trip to challenge the Edison Golden Bears at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Highlands faced off against Brackenridge on Tuesday. Highlands never let Brackenridge get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. Considering the Owls have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ciera Garcia and Alyna Oppelt were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Garcia tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Oppelt pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. At bat, Garcia scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Oppelt went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave Oppelt a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alythia Aparicio, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Analia Aparicio was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Highlands kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edison). They came out on top against Brackenridge by a score of 15-11 on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Bears as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Joanna Gutierrez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off ten hits. Gutierrez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Edison got a massive performance out of Aaliyah Rodriguez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Rodriguez also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Melanie Medrano, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Highlands' record now sits at 8-5. As for Edison, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-10-1.
Everything went Highlands' way against Edison when the teams last played on March 7th, as Highlands made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highlands since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
