Baseball Recap: Eight Straight Home Wins for Bishop Stang

Bishop Stang proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 14) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Arlington Catholic Cougars 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 on April 4th.

Ethan Cleveland looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bishop Stang got a big performance out of Bobby Rooney, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Moniz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bishop Stang pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington Catholic, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-4.

Coincidentally, Bishop Stang and Arlington Catholic will both be playing Bishop Feehan the next time they take the field. The Spartans will head out to face the Shamrocks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Cougars will host them on Wednesday.
