Basketball Recap: Ja'niyah Mccoy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Forest over Lake Mary

Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Mary Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 57-50 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ja'Niyah McCoy, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 16 points and six assists. McCoy is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Janaina Wess, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Forest's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Lake Mary, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Forest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-6 victory against Lake Weir on the 14th. Lake Mary has also already played their next game, a 46-6 win against Lake Brantley on the 13th.
