Softball Game Preview: Lincoln County Lynx vs. Needles Mustangs

Lincoln County is 1-9 against Needles since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Lincoln County will be playing in front of their home fans against Needles at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Lincoln County beats Needles with 16 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Lincoln County put the hurt on GV Christian with a sharp 16-2 win on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Lynx as they're now sitting on four straight.

Meanwhile, while Needles put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Awaken Christian. Needles was the clear victor by a 23-0 margin over Awaken Christian. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Audrina Bullchild was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Bullchild was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Needles got a massive performance out of Emmerson Powell, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Edey Ponce, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Needles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Needles' win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Lincoln County, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
