Basketball Recap: Cholla Comes Up Short

If Cholla was feeling good fresh off their 77-54 takedown of Amphitheater on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chargers fell 75-66 to the Douglas Bulldogs on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-46 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Cholla lost, don't look at Jerry Mendoza. Despite the final result, he shot 45% from the field en route to 38 points. Mendoza's evening made it 23 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Leonardo Mendoza was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points and five rebounds.

Diego Lopez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Douglas, shooting 63% from the field on his way to 32 points and six boards. That's the most points Lopez has posted since back in December of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Felix, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten assists.

Cholla's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Douglas, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Cholla nor Douglas have any future games scheduled.
