League recap: Ponte Vedra extends winning streak with victory over Menendez

5A District 4 recap Nov. 7, 2012

Ponte Vedra extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 4 this week by beating Menendez, 38-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.

Ponte Vedra took down the Falcons 38-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Matt Deegan threw for 142 yards and one touchdown and ran for 52 yards in the win.

Mike Lloyd's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Cole Mazza chipped in 151 yards. Corey Love helped Ponte Vedra's passing attack out by catching two balls for 46 yards.

Sam Feidler was the best wideout in the league this week as the Sharks topped Menendez. Feidler tallied three receptions for 52 yards.

6-foot-4 quarterback Deegan of Ponte Vedra is the league leader in passing yards this season with 835. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Nease's Ulysses Bryant has rushed for 1330 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Justin Johnson. The Nease star has 18 catches for 365 yards.

Creekside and the Panthers played the most hotly contested game in 5A District 4 this week, with Creekside eventually emerging with a 23-20 victory.
